Police Officer Trainee- Post Academy Graduate Contact Oakland PD Today!

The purpose of the P.O.S.T Academy Graduate program is design for applicants that are in the process of obtaining a P.O.S.T Academy Graduate Certificate from a qualifying academy.  The eligibility requirements for this program are as follows:

  • In the process of obtaining a P.O.S.T. Academy Graduate Certificate
  • Possess a High School diploma or G.E.D.
  • Applicants must be 21 upon graduation from the academy; duration of academy is  6   months. Please contact the Recruitment & Backgrounds Investigation Unit for scheduled graduation dates.
  • Have a valid California Driver’s License by date of hire.
  • Have no felony convictions or other convictions which would prevent carrying a gun.
  • Be a U.S. citizen or in the citizenship application process

P.O.S.T. T-Score Waiver

Applicants who have previously taken the POST Entry-Level Battery Test may request a waiver of the written test by submitting a T-Score Waiver packet.   T-scores must be  within 12-months from the date of application.  A copy of your T-Score on the letterhead of the public agency where the test was taken must be attached to the waiver packet.
A packet can be request from the Recruiting Unit. To ensure timely response and scheduling of your oral board schedule upon verification of the T-score from P.O.S.T; please complete and sign all of the required documents.  Allow 4 to 5 weeks upon receipt of your completed waiver packet for oral board confirmation.
